Sarap Shop @ Kaiser Café · 2425 Geary Blvd, San Francisco
$25.00/hr · Full-time (40 hrs/wk)
Medical, vision & dental eligible
Daytime shifts only
Sarap Shop is a first-gen Filipino food company (we have a café in SOMA, and a history-making stand at the Chase Center Arena). We're piloting a new, first-of-its-kind food program inside Kaiser Permanente on Geary as a resident restaurant partner with Fooda. It will be a full café with breakfast and lunch hotlines, salad bar and deli, grab-&-go, and catering, rethinking what the hospital food experience can be.
This role is for cooks who love stable service:
You like being in the flow of a calm, high-volume line.
You keep your cool during the rush, and you enjoy the guest side of the counter — this job is part cooking, part welcoming people in.
You like a very stable environment where you develop and execute routine really well. Same hours, cross-trained on consistent stations, same standards, week after week.
You like meaningful work with creativity where it counts.
The work
Cook breakfast and lunch hotline service: some is made to order, some batch cooking, holding and serving to temp, keeping the line stocked and moving.
Serve guests directly at the hotline — friendly, steady, welcoming, even mid-rush.
Rotate across the service stations: grill, salad bar & deli, market/grab-&-go. Everyone is cross-trained.
Organized station prep and setup: knife work, batch recipes, labeling and FIFO rotation.
Stock and face the grab-&-go case; track pull dates and record waste.
Temp logs, food safety checks, receiving support.
Everyone cleans during their shift — clean your station as you go, dishes as needed, and your part of the daily and weekly cleaning lists.
The schedule — actual shifts available. We’ll work with you to set a full-time schedule from these available shifts.
Weekday (Mon–Fri):
5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (open)
7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
9:30 AM – 6:00 PM (close)
Weekend (Sat–Sun):
6:30 AM – 1:30 PM (open)
7:00 AM – 2:30 PM (close)
Schedule features:
You'll have a regular shift and consistent hours week to week.
We aim for all full-time team members to have two consecutive days off every week unless they prefer otherwise.
Weekend and holiday coverage are shared. We staff them with people who prefer weekend and holiday shifts first, and rotate the rest of the crew through whatever's left.
Shifts include paid 10-minute rest breaks (one per four hours worked) and an unpaid 30-minute meal break on shifts over five hours, per California and San Francisco law.
There are no night shifts! The café closes at 5 PM weekdays and 1:30 PM weekends.
What we're looking for
Professional kitchen experience. Someone comfortable running a station through a busy service.
Warmth at the counter. You care about food quality and customer experience.
CA Food Handler card; ServSafe a plus (we'll certify you if needed).
Consistency and dependability. You are self-driven, on time, on top of your work list, and care about the stability and success of your teammates. You lend a hand whenever you can and leave your station ready for the next person.
Comfortable on your feet and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Pay & benefits
$25.00/hr
Medical, vision, and dental insurance for full-time team members. Eligibility begins the first of the month after completing 30 days of full-time employment.
Paid sick time.
Staff meal every shift.
Eligibility:
Important to note: All hires must attend mandatory paid on-the-job training and our soft opening, July 24–26. You must be available those three days.
Employment is conditional on completing Kaiser's facility credentialing — a background check plus health screening (TB test and immunization verification) — arranged and paid for by us. It typically takes 1–2 weeks, so we make offers fast. We will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in a manner consistent with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
The Sarap Shop is an equal opportunity employer.

This role is for cooks who love big-batch, behind-the-scenes work. You'd rather own the production list than the counter: scaling recipes up, running multiple projects at once, and setting the line up to win before service starts.
The work
Daily batch production: sauces, proteins, grains, composed items — scale recipes with consistent results.
Own the prep list and inventory system. Prioritize, execute, and label everything (FIFO, dates, allergens). On top of all inventory from ingredients to ready-to-sell.
Build catering orders end to end: production, pack-out, staging for delivery across the building.
Grab-&-go production: assemble, portion, and date the case items. Stock the grab-&-go service stations.
Receiving and walk-in organization; par tracking and prep-ahead planning.
Temp logs and food safety documentation for everything you produce.
Everyone cleans during their shift — clean your area as you go, dishes as needed, and your part of the daily and weekly cleaning lists.

This role is for people who take pride in a clean, well-run kitchen. You'd rather own the whole back of house than one station: keeping the dish pit moving, staying ahead of the mess, and running the systems that keep a kitchen inspection-ready every single day.
The work
Own the cleanliness of the kitchen as a whole — every cook cleans their own station, but this role is the keeper of the kitchen: dish pit, BOH floors, walls and equipment exteriors, and service stations, before, during, and after service.
Run the dish pit: wash, sanitize, and restock wares for the line and catering through service.
Anchor the daily and weekly cleaning checklists — track what's done, flag what's due, and keep us inspection-ready every day (we're inside a hospital; clean is the standard, not the goal).
Manage waste streams: keep bins organized, empty trash/recycling/compost, and break down boxes.
Receive deliveries, FIFO-rotate stock into the walk-in and storage areas, and support freight days.
Temp logs and food safety checks for your areas.
Light prep support when the cleaning is caught up.
